April is a B-U-S-Y month. It is Autism Awareness month, Occupational Therapy month, and Earth Day. We should not be at a loss for activities at school! I can’t wait to help others understand what OT is all about, work on our Earth Day/month bottle cap art mural, and find fun, interesting ways to help expand the strategies for our students with Autism.
What will we create this year? Wait and see!! Last year we made t-shirts with puzzle piece stencils, made pillows for the moms and toolboxes for the dads. I better get my thinking cap on and get creative. Puzzle piece frosted cookies I think will be one of the projects YUM!! I am waiting for the cookie cutters to arrive.
But with all of the fun stuff comes schedule changes and stress! Yikes!! We keep working on ways to help eachother stay calm, relaxed and be a good participant in class.
Please share ideas that you may have that have worked for you! We are always looking for new techniques to help ALL students.
