Using a “craft” project CAN fulfill so many functional objectives in the school setting!! See what I mean? Don’t you just LOVE these projects that the Intermediate classes finished? I sure do!
What functional objectives? Well….fine motor skills, motor planning, cognitive/perceptual skills…….cooperative work tasks, following directions, working together as a team, making decisions….well I could go on! But the best part is FUN!! I sure am liking this…..having FUN and completing functional skills at the same time. Isn’t it fun when they don’t even realize that they are “doing therapy”?
Getting frustrated, figuring out what to do, showing Pam that we ALL need to use our calming strategies to stay focused and be a part of the group process. Then….because we DID work together to be able to show everyone a wonderful finished product.
Can’t wait for the Murray Ridge 500 and be a part of a fun day.
